ABOUT US

ABN AMRO Commercial Bank is fully committed in servicing its clients through a sector based approach. Our food team consists of a large dedicated team of professionals providing financial services and advice to food producing and trading companies (up to € 250mln turnover). ABN AMRO’s strategy is to help our clients accelerate the sustainability shift. To enhance this strategy we created the ‘Future Foods Proposition’, which mainly focuses on innovative start- and scaleups. We believe these disruptive business models will play an important role in the transition to a more sustainable food system. Our role is to support these companies with a broad range of financial products and services, from start-up phase till IPO.

OUR MAIN INNOVATION GOALS

Innovative start- and scaleup companies play a crucial role by inspiring established food companies in our client portfolio and help building a sustainable and resilient food system. The Future Foods Proposition focuses on three high impact themes:

1) Proteins: shift to plant based proteins and more sustainable animal proteins

2) Functional foods: products that include notable health benefits for humans

3) Ingredients: clean label products, products based on material waste flows or other innovative

and sustainable ingredients

SPECIFIC INNOVATION NEEDS

The themes Proteins, Functional Foods and Ingredients are constantly evolving. We would like to increase our expertise on these themes and offer suitable finance solutions (early stage financing). Moreover, we would like to better understand the specific needs of start- and scaleups and how we can help them. With our large and versatile network we can bring companies together in order to accelerate innovation.

WE ARE PROUD OF...

ABN AMRO has broad experience in working with start ups. Our Informal Investment Services is committed to match start- and scaleups with private bank clients looking for investment opportunities.

These clients (850 angel investors) are (ex-) entrepreneurs who not only provide capital, but also their knowledge and network. To name two successful projects: The Seaweed Company grows and harvests seaweed in open water facilities in Morocco, India, Ireland and The Netherlands. We found investors who joined them on their adventure. We also found investors for Healthy Fridge. They have a modern type of vending machines serving fresh and healthy food in large office buildings and hospitals.
